Description — Woodland

Woodland hunting means a more continuous tree layer than mixed savanna — miombo (Brachystegia country), mopane woodland and similar stands where grass may still grow underneath but the day is defined by stems and shade.

This is classic Central and southern African wilderness hunting: longer walks, more listening, and animals that use the canopy edge. Angola’s Cuando Cubango, parts of Zambia, Mozambique’s inland coutadas and stretches of Tanzania all sell woodland as a product.

Ask whether your block is open miombo or thick mopane — mopane can feel closer to bushveld when it densifies. The habitat name alone is not enough for packing or expectations.
